Do parents stay during the Zoom course?

Parents are welcome to stay during the Zoom sessions, but it is not a requirement. Younger children may need a little help with some of the craft activities.

How many children are in the course?

There is a maximum of 10 children in a zoom course.

What will my child need for each session?

Your child will need the Chatterminds workbook to use during each session. This workbook contains all the worksheets needed throughout the course (and much more). For each session, your child will need pens, paper and the craft resources which will be emailed out at the start of the course. There is also an option for the book and resources to be sent to your child for an additional fee.

Does my child need to have any specific needs to join the course?

This course is helpful for all children.

I’m not sure if my child will engage on Zoom?

Get in touch and we can organise a practice Zoom session.

Does it matter that there are various aged children in the group?

We all learn from each other. We all have feelings so mindfulness and emotional regulation is beneficial for all ages. The children connect as a group and often make friends. They also realise that everyone has similar problems in life and then learn strategies together to deal with them. It is fun!

What if my child misses a session?

If your child is unable to attend a session, I will try my best to catch them up. I usually ask them to stay later the following session. If other participants are agreeable, I sometimes record sessions (with permission from parents).

What if I want to cancel my place on a course?

If you have to cancel your space, we will offer you a credit to put your child on the next course. If you cancel your space less than 7 days before the start date, and you do not wish to have a credit for the next course, you will lose the payment for the class. Refunds may be given at Chatterminds discretion, depending on the circumstances.

If you wish to cancel a 121 session, please give 48 hrs notice. The appointment can be moved to a later date. If the session is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice and not re-scheduled for a later date, you will lose the payment for the appointment.

Will the course “work”?

Your child will be taught lots of different skills and strategies to manage the ups and downs of life. These skills can be used into adulthood and developed with practise.

Is ‘home practice’ just another thing that’s got to be done?

Home practice will reinforce what we are learning in the sessions and will benefit your child but there is still a lot of benefit to be had even if you can’t do much home practice.

Is the course like therapy?

This is not therapy. The course is similar to an after school club. It is relaxed and informal but it involves important learning and a safe space for children to chat. We make crafts together and the teaching is always tailored to the needs of the group. I am not a therapist, but I have 20 years of teaching experience and a background in special needs education.
